In 2018 I was asked to co-lead a project with underground Comix legend Justin Green. We worked with a small group of “apprentices” through ArtWorks Cincinnati to create a deck of “Cincinnati Music Legends” cards in partnership with Shake it Records. Each card features a pen and watercolor portrait of the artist on the front and a bio of the artist on the back written by Darren Blase from Shake it Records. Justin taught us all how to properly use a nib pen, and many techniques he honed over his career as a cartoonist (and a sign painter). Each apprentice, Justin and I all made 4-5 cards each, sometimes collaborating, sometimes going it alone.
